|
The New Zealand Defence Force Archives is an excellent resource for researching military service records. Copies of your own service record can be requested by writing to the people at the New Zealand Defence Forces:
To request service records for New Zealand military personnel post to:
NZDF Archives Personnel Enquiries Trentham Military Camp Private Bag 905 Upper Hutt 5140 New Zealand
Or to send by Fax dialling from Ireland:
00-64-04-527-5275
Note: All requests are required to be by post or fax. and must be signed and dated.
If the request concerns another living person, you will need to obtain that persons written permission to obtain the record or authorisation, in writing from the person who holds 'Power of Attorney'. The Power of Attorney documents will also be required.
If the request concerns a deceased service member, anyone may request the relevant records however if the service member died after leaving the armed forces then the archive may not have a record of that and may require documentation such as a death certificate, death notice etc.
